Greetings, Trollkin!

Welcome to a new blog dedicated to my adventures in the Iron Kingdoms, specifically with Trollbloods! This blog will be a dedicated public space for me to share my hobby, games, and personal growth within the game Warmachine/Hordes. 

A little backstory on me! I am a wargamer of 10 years. I am mostly a Warhammer 40k, Horus Heresy,  and Age of Sigmar player, but about 4 years ago I went pretty heavy into Trollbloods! I collected a massive army (around 400pts???) and it was fully painted! At some point along the way, I sort of fell out of sorts with the game, Trolls being a bottom barrel faction, and the local struggling community, turning my focus back to 40k and Horus Heresy. It was at this time that I sold off almost my entire Trollbloods army. Looking back on this, I don't actually regret this decision. It helped me pay for my entire Horus Heresy Word Bearers army and I am still getting a lot of use and fun out of that force today!

However, I missed my trolls. I knew there was a new edition of the game that came out in 2016 and I was really curious to pick it back up. I reached out to a friend who was still playing the game and asked him if I could get a refresher game using his Retribution of Scyrah! He happily obliged and we set up a little man-date! Oh boy, did I have a BLAST!!! Needless to say, I was hooked. I was BACK!!! 

I toyed around with what faction to play this time and came very close to choosing something new, but ultimately decided to go back to my first love, the Trollbloods. I still have a Dire Troll Mauler, Blitzer, and Mountain King and figured that was a pretty good jumping off point! I'm back!

PURPOSE OF THE BLOG
The ultimate purpose of this blog is to track my hobby and games within the Iron Kingdom. I very much want to document my learning experiences and be able to reflect on my journey while sharing it with you!

So buckle in and get ready to tough it out with me!

Hobby Progress: A mess of trolls...

Just a quick update!  So it was my plan to meticulously track and blog my progress with each unit, but I forgot! I recently upgraded my airbrush and became so excited while using it that I just started blowing through units knocking out the core stages in mere minutes.  Anyways, here's a progress shot of what's going down at the moment. The kriels are shaping up and I definitely plan on doing some studio shots upon completion!

Hobby Progress: Trollkin Champions

One of my favorite units from back in the day was none other than the Trollkin Champions. I remember running two max units and cleaving through my foes game after game! They were such a fun unit to play with and paint, that it only made sense to start my new adventure with these lovable berzerkers!  The Trollkin Champions are assembled and ready for paint! Overall, the unit went together pretty easily. I forgot what it had been like to work with Privateer Press' resin kits and while they're not bad by any means, they are starting to show some age within the industry standard. My only real complaints were the strange mold lines within hard to reach or high detailed places. Nonetheless, I managed to get them cleaned up and assembled!  I also did a few headswaps between bodies in order to show more variety. If there is one thing I don't like it, models looking exactly like other models! Every warrior in my army needs to look unique! Above you can see...
